Notice of Public Hearing Affecting LDLD Members

Date: June 1, 2021

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: Muskego City Hall, W128 S8200 Racine Avenue

Member Miraj Parikh (W200S10783 East Shore Drive) has petitioned the city for a conditional use grant (CUG) which would allow for short-term rentals such as those listed on VRBO, Airbnb and the like. City of Muskego municipal code currently prohibits short-term rentals per Article 14 Section 400-159 without a CUG.

There has been at least one other member who has expressed an interest in offering this type of short-term rental.

Several members have reached out to commissioners with opinions / concerns and requests for participation at the hearing from fellow property owners.

The LDLD Board’s position on the matter is that we are concerned about any activity which can adversely affect the health and quality of the lake and its watershed. Insofar as this CUG may serve as a precedent and catalyst for more such grants, we are concerned about increased recreational boating pressure and increased number of visiting boats which may increase the potential for Aquatic Invasive Specie spread. There are a number of other concerns expressed by members which are outside the purview of the lake district.

This matter will be considered and decided by the City of Muskego, Planning Commission. This is a public hearing intended for city decision makers to better understand community opinions and concerns. Please attend and voice your thoughts and concerns.
